If your one of the homeowners thinking about selling your house, consider this: it’s a competitive market and you want to make sure the outside looks as good as the inside, after all the outside is the first thing buyers see. The days of thinking “no big deal the buyer can ask us to do these things in the offer” are long gone. Today’s market is very challenging, and the buyers are looking for a home they can just move into and enjoy and with all the snow and ice our homes have just endured over the past few months it’s time to give your home a little attention.

Take the time to wash down the outside of your home and free it of all the dirt. Yes, siding does get dirty. While you’re at it hose down the front entry way to your home. I can’t tell you how many very nice homes I have shown that when we walked up to the front door it looked like a dust storm had hit the entry way. Don’t forget to remove all the spider webs and bugs! If you’re like me, I never think about my front entry because I use the garage to enter my home but this is the first place the buyer goes. A fresh coat of paint and a few flowers won’t cost you much but could save you hundreds and gives your home a fresh clean look. Make sure your yard is free of weeds and trash, and if your mulch is looking tired buy a few bags of fresh mulch. Make sure your back yard looks as good as the front, and if you have a deck and patio free it of all bugs, leaves and dirt.

You get one shot to make a first impression. A few easy jobs and sprucing up if the first step to having the buyer love your home. Bottom line it all starts outside.
